How Sanofi is Empowering Life in Pakistan

Managing Diabetes

Life is a health journey but for about 400 million people this journey includes diabetes.
By 2040, there could be more than 600 million affected people around the world. Many treatments exist, but about half of patients do not reach their blood sugar level targets.

As a health journey partner, Sanofi has long been committed to improving diabetes management and patient quality of life. One example is the development of once-daily basal insulin. The health journey of people living with diabetes is smoother thanks to only 1 insulin injection a day.

Bringing back the smiles

Life is a health journey and for about 2.5 million people around the world it involves living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Due to lack of awareness and diagnostic facilities, precise data for Pakistan is not available but extrapolated statistics suggest the prevalence to be over 8,120.

As a health journey partner, Sanofi Genzyme has worked for over a decade to develop new treatments, establishing itself as a leader in providing therapies for this disorder. Sanofi is proud to have one of only 15 FD approved disease-modifying medications for MS.

Sanofi toils tirelessly to arrange therapy for patients in Pakistan. As a result, patients on Sanofi therapy in Pakistan are showing signs of marked improvement in their condition and living fuller, happier lives.

Innovating in Rare Diseases

In Pakistan, widespread culture of intra-family marriages has led to a number of children developing genetic disorders, including LSDs (Lysosomal Storage Disorders). Due to dearth of scientific data & national statistics on rare diseases, absence of diagnostic facilities for LSDs and lack of awareness about rare diseases, many cases go unnoticed or misdiagnosed, often leading to preventable deaths.

As a health journey partner, Sanofi Genzyme, for the first time in Pakistan, facilitated free of cost diagnostic services for suspected cases of LSD and our commitment does not end there. We make a difference in the lives of patients through access programs, strategic partnerships with health authorities, patient societies and the medical community.

Sanofi Genzyme has brought a ray of hope to patients in Pakistan. Today*, we are facilitating treatment of 11 Gaucher disease and 1 Pompe patients through our International Charitable Access Program
